About the Arizona Cardinals

What to Check on This Team Page

The Arizona Cardinals trace their history back to 1898 as an amateur club and joined the NFL in 1920, making them the oldest continuously operating professional football franchise in the country. The team plays home games at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, notable for its retractable roof and a roll-out natural grass field that slides outdoors between games. After stops in Chicago and St. Louis, the franchise relocated to Arizona in 1988. The Cardinals reached Super Bowl XLIII following the 2008 season behind receiver Larry Fitzgerald, one of the most productive pass-catchers in NFL history, falling just short to Pittsburgh in the final seconds. Arizona's NFC West rivalry with the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks brings physical, division-shaping matchups every year, while the desert heat and dome environment give the Cardinals a unique home-field dynamic. Fitzgerald's two-decade career with the franchise remains the centerpiece of the team's modern history as Arizona builds around its next core of playmakers.
