About the Minnesota Vikings

What to Check on This Team Page

The Minnesota Vikings joined the NFL in 1961 and play home games at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, a glass-and-steel indoor venue known for hosting Super Bowl LII. The "Purple People Eaters" defensive line of the 1970s helped carry Minnesota to four Super Bowl appearances, though a title has remained elusive for the franchise. The Vikings' NFC North rivalry with the Green Bay Packers is one of the division's fiercest, and matchups with the Bears and Lions round out a demanding late-season slate often played in frigid conditions. Wide receiver Randy Moss and running back Adrian Peterson rank among the most explosive offensive players in franchise history, with Peterson's single-season rushing record still standing among the best ever recorded. Minnesota's loud domed home environment has become one of the toughest venues for visiting teams, and the franchise continues to build aggressively around its passing game each offseason. Start with the NFLBite home page for the wider league overview, use the NFL schedule to check upcoming matchups, review the NFL scores for recent results, and visit the NFL team directory to compare this franchise with the rest of the league.
